Single Review: 51 Breaks – “Blueprints”
When something like this crops up in the review bundle you get from Pure Rawk HQ, you really have to ask why the band in question bothered sending it to this webzine in the first place to be honest. 51 Breaks are a band from Birmingham who essentially sound like a carbon copy of the Arctic Monkeys. And I’m sure they’re a very nice bunch of blokes and genuinely sincere and honest about what they do. It’s just that, there’s no point in denying this, I absolutely despise the Arctic Monkeys and all that they stand for i.e. lame half-arsed clever-clever indie-electro posturing with no soul or emotion behind it which is the aural equivalent of talking to someone with a permanent knowing smirk on their face. So sorry lads but this was never really gonna get a good review from me. Never mind, I’m sure there’s plenty of indie ‘zines out there who’ll give you a fairer listening to than I will.
