Citroën Retail Group has announced the winner of its Battle of the Bands competition after asking its online fans to vote for their favourite entry.
Unsigned bands were asked to upload a video of them performing to the Citroën Retail Group Facebook page for the chance to win an ultimate music prize package.
London based band Disrupt the Skies received over 900 votes from the Citroën fans for ‘Nothing Good Happens After 2AM’ and won time in a recording studio, had their song uploaded to iTunes and were interviewed on a national radio station as their prize.
The competition was launched as part of the Group’s Big Gig campaign to celebrate the new September 61 registration plate and saw over 4000 people get involved to act as judges.
Jon Williams, Sales Director at Citroën Retail Group thinks the competition was a perfect way to launch the 61 plates as music and driving go hand in hand.“Everybody has an anthem they listen to in the car, so we thought the Citroën Big Gig competition was an ideal way to let people know about the 61 Plate Festival,” Jon said. “The Battle of the Bands competition was a fantastic opportunity for talented musicians to promote themselves and win a prize that money can’t buy. “Disrupt the Skies had some incredible feedback from our Facebook fans and we are delighted to announce them as the winner. “And as it was such a fierce competition, with only a handful of votes between the top two bands, we decided to arrange second place band Seven Daze with a runners up prize of an interview and song played on national radio too.”
Both bands were thrilled with their prizes and have since taken to their own Facebook pages to thank fans for support and update them on their radio debuts.
The Citroën Big Gig also announced the four best driving songs after asking people to name their favourite tunes on the page.
The four best suggestions won win gig tickets, an iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle and now have their song choices named as one of the ultimate Citroën song to drive to.
The top four songs were named as “I Drove All Night” from Rachel Dann, “Hot Pursuit” from Steve Hitchman, “Who’s Gonna Drive You Home” from Ian Morrice and “Anything for Love” from Michelle Bruce.
