Out Monday 23/01 on Roadrunner RecordsThe first track ‘Straight For The Sun’ is very old LOG sounding! A flash back to 2000 and the New American Gospel era, but short lived at just over two minutes. Onwards and forwards to a sound more modern coming from Lamb Of God and I think generally this album is sounding more like the last, Wrath, though I can’t really compare as I never managed to get my hands on it.
Overall, Resolution doesn’t really have any stand out tracks, which is why this is just a general review, there is just nothing worth picking out to talk about and I’ve listened four times now. There is those signature speedy riffs and awesome drum fills, Randy’s vocals sound a little different, more voice coming out with words being more clear to hear. The major difference/problem for this album is lack of awesome guitar solo’s, I think there’s only 5 out of 12 main tracks, so deeply disappointing. The drumming from Chris is stella as always but even here there is nothing that made me go wow, in fact, I didn’t even tap along.
There is nothing BAD about Resolution, there is just nothing especially good about it. Give it a try though and maybe something will grow, maybe seeing them live – which I whole heartedly recommend you do, and maybe it will click a bit better.
