Blues legend Johnny Winter Dies at 70
Texas blues icon, Johnny Winter has passed away on July 16, 2014 in his hotel room in Zurich, Switzerland.
An update by Winter’s official Facebook fan page states: “His wife, family and bandmates are all saddened by the loss of their loved one and one of the world’s finest guitarists. An official statement with more details shall be issued at the appropriate time.”
To celebrate his 70th birthday in February of this year, Winter released “True To The Blues: The Johnny Winter Story” which featured fifty seven tracks recorded from 1968 to present, spanning over four CDs.
Winter had been on an extensive tour this year that brought him to Europe for his last performance Saturday at the Lovely Days Festival in Wiesen, Austria. More when we have it. RIP Johnny Winter.
