VIDEO PREMIER: Tropical Contact – “The Right Thing”
Warning: NSFD (Not Safe For Diet). This video will make you want profiteroles.
A few months ago, Tropical Contact were nearly over before really they began when they announced their demise in August. To say we were bummed was an understatement, especially after catching them live for the first time at Camden Rocks back in May. However, life has a funny way of making things pan out for the better sometimes and we’re treated to a brand new offering from the Huddersfield outfit.
For a band that were edging on the ‘Miami Vice’ vibe with sharp suits, pouts and sunglasses in the dark -“The Right Thing” feels a bit closer to home with plenty of scones, cakes, profiteroles … an alarming amount of profiteroles. It is beautifully shot by AshTV Music Video who have been previously responsible for visual delights released by Eureka Machines, Ginger Wildheart and Obsessive Compulsive to name a few.
Tropical Contact had set themselves a very high standard with their debut EP, “Go Getters. Jet Setters. Heavy Petters”. As you’ll hear, “The Right Thing” lives up to the same standard of output with bags of energy and melody.
Frontman, Ben Janet comments: “The video to accompany this song was several years in the making, cleverly ensuring the end result looks simply like two guys in a cafe. I don’t think my mate Jonny wants to look at another profiterole in his life. He got through four trays of them and he’s diabetic too, yikes!”
Watch the deliciously ace video below and make sure you grab a copy of the song for FREE from their band page on Facebook or Soundcloud. Their “Go Getters. Jet Setters. Heavy Petters” EP is available from Amazon.co.uk now.
If you’re going to Ginger’s Halloween Hootenanny this Friday at the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton, you can catch Tropical Contact along with The Ginger Wildheart Band, Eureka Machines, Scaramanga Six, Baby Chaos and Oaf (ridiculously ace bill). Unfortunately this event is now sold out.
