EP Review: From Great Height
From Great Height have an intense yet dreamlike rock sound, with more than a hint of epic in the mix.
The guitars swirl and soar and finally come back at you in a hot, discordant wall of sound, with synths being used to good effect to create a dark, slightly paranoid space where singer Adam spits his words at your ears. I’m not sure what he’s on about a lot of the time, but it’s certainly very convincing.
Reminiscent perhaps of a lighter My Vitriol, this is a very engaging and accomplished EP. My only real criticism would have to be it does go on a bit, but then I suppose that’s to be expected with this style.
Their first single, Split Seconds / Initial (both tracks included here) got them a fair bit of attention, and I can imagine this may also if it reaches the right ears.
Tracklisting:
- The Messenger
- From A Great Height
- The Lie of the Land
