Here is a FAQ about Pure Rawk, the promotions side – hopefully it will answer any queries so you won’t have to message us. Obviously, if its something specific – drop us a message. Although we have received a lot of enquiries so a response cannot be guaranteed immediately. More will be added as necessary!
Q. I’m in a band or I am band management, how do I get a Pure Rawk gig?
A. Send a demo (address below). We will not just check you out on MySpace. Its very rare that we’ll book a band we’ve not seen before so throw us some up-coming dates and we’ll see what we can do … if we like what you do.
We will not promote bands that we are not fully enthusiastic about. Our shows are not half-arsed, we put bands on because we believe in them.
We try to put the right bands together for the best night out possible so we might not be able to accomodate you – ie. we’ll only book rock/metal/punk/glam (but not all on the same night).
Nix is the only one who runs Purerawk.co.uk AND the promotions side of things (from the booking right down to the publicity … and at the moment has a full-time job) so please bear this in mind.

Q. Will I be asked back?
A. Put on a good show and we’ll talk about it. You’ll notice that there are several bands that we’ve worked with on numerous occassions - this is because they put on a fantastic show but quite importantly they’re ‘on it’ with promoting their end.
We can’t put up with apathy. Its a two way street. Help us to help you.
Q. How do I buy tickets for a Pure Rawk gig?
A. Online at www.ticketweb.co.uk, www.wegottickets.com, or www.seetickets.com or in person from Nix. Alternatively there will be tickets on the night at ‘door price’ or ‘flyer price’ if you have a flyer. However, please check Pure Rawk Press releases for most accurate information – information from other sources that is different will be incorrect.
Q. Are you looking for more venues to book at?
A. Yes. Always. Pref in the London/Surrey area at the moment but we’ve just started looking into venues for touring purposes so get in touch.
Q. I want to review a Pure Rawk gig, how do I go about getting press access?
A. Write to nix@purerawk.com with what you’d like to cover.
We only give access of this nature to credited press. We DO NOT give press access to people who write blogs on MySpace and call it a ’site’ – thats just a diary or as it says, a blog – NOT a review. Nine times out of ten we usually have photographers in attendance to provide you with stock images but other arrangements can be made if absolutely necessary.
Q. What type of deal do you operate on?
A. We don’t do pay to play. No band should have to presale an amount of tickets (then pay for the remainder if unsuccessful) or pay a fee ever. It is wrong, simple as.
It does depend on the band however. With our higher cards we sometimes operate on guarantees or door splits. We more often than not operate on a system of ticket split when people have come to see you. Nowadays, we keep a track of people who have used flyers/paid full and said who they have turned up to see (this gives you a much better idea of who has come for you!). When you are booked, we’ll discuss this further.
Q. What happens on the night?
A. We’ll do our best to look after you, especially travelling/touring bands. We know the road can be very hard and if you’ve been stuck in traffic for ages, you’ve probably not had chance to eat or just relax.
We usually provide food riders or drinks riders. We can also arrange to sell your merch for you and not expect a cut out of it.
We’ll make sure that we can do our utmost to give you a memorable and comfortable gig. If you’re enjoying yourselves, quite possibly people who have come to see you will!
