Godsized have been simmering nicely under the surface of the underground metal scene for a good few years now, and this year promises to see them really start to break through. We catch up with guitarist Neil to get ‘the scoop’ on Godsized and see what they’re got brewing.

After a difficult birth (originally planned for November 08), the inaugural Hellfire festival is finally upon us, promising three days of premium metal. The opening night was a joint venture with the Overkill / Exodus tour, but we missed that due to reasons beyond our control, so let’s go straight to the Saturday…
Opening the Scuzz-sponsored second stage are competition winners Scar My Eyes. First band of the day is never an enviable slot, and despite obviously making an effort, Scar My Eyes’ fairly generic death/thrash comes across a bit scrappy.


Making a better opening on the main stage is London-based outfit Godsized. Now including the drummer from recently-demised Head On, these lads lay down pure and simple metal, at times thundering and groove-laden, at times lightening fast, and always a treat to see. One to keep on eye on I think.
